Hpsx64 (PS2)

HPSX64 is a popular yet highly-experimental PlayStation 2 emulator. This promising project is still a work in progress but development is currently quite active with only a few months between each update. This emulator is for x64-based systems and is backward compatible with the original PlayStation console games.

This project has been in active development since 2018 and features two gamepads support for local multiplayer games where having two controllers are essential. It also features vertical sync, video buffering, and shaders among many other things. Because the emulator is still in its early development stages, game compatibility is still pretty low, and can only run a few commercial games. Although 3D games still suffer some performance issues, 2D PlayStation 2 games perform well.

When executed, this open-source project displays two separate applications depending on the game played. PlayStation games display Hps1x64, while PlayStation 2 games display Hps2x64. As of version v0400, the Hps1x64 delivers a very accurate emulation while the Hps2x64 still has a long way to go.
