NeutrinoSX2 (PS2)

NeutrinoSX2 was one of the first PS2 emulators that arrived on the PlayStation 2 emulation world. This open-source emulator is available as a basis to anyone who wants to dive into making their emulators. Abbreviated as NSX2, the code behind this emulator is known to be super clean and it also features well-laid-out documentation. This project gives other users and aspiring developers all the needed tools to successfully build their own programs or continue the project forward.

The latest version of NeutrinoSX2 can successfully emulate PS2 games but not for a long time. NSX2 is more of a DIY kit where you need to build the codes to work on every game. If you are an average user who just wants to get the full package and play on the go, you should try PCSX2.

NeutrinoSX2 has not been updated since 2003. As it stands, it is only able to emulate some purpose-built functionality test demos for the PS2 unless optimized or otherwise configured properly. It is not known why the development ended abruptly by Atreides Muaddib (Maud). Fortunately, the project left a wealth of information (including some of the inner workings of PS2) to those who are interested in picking it up.
