Mednafen (SNES)

Mednafen, an acronym for "My Emulator Doesn't Need A Frickin' Excellent Name", is a well-known multi-console emulator developed by Ryphecha. This open-source project can simulate over a dozen classic gaming consoles including the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES/ Super Famicom) with an emphasis on accuracy and compatibility.

Formerly called Nintencer, Mednafen is known for its unfriendly shell-only user interface that takes a while to get used to. The software has no GUI, and every operation requires extensive dragging and dropping. Whenever a crash happens, the error log will be shown on a generated text file with the file name "stdout". If that sounds too inconvenient for you, you might want to try a couple of third-party GUI launchers available that you can download externally.
