Mednafen (GBA)

My Emulator Doesn't Need A Frickin' Excellent Name, or Mednafen is a well-known multi-console emulator developed by Ryphecha. Formerly called Nintencer, this emulator is available on multiple platforms, and can be used to emulate a wide selection of classic video game consoles including Game Boy Advance, Super Famicom, and PlayStation 1.

This open-source project has been around for many years and is entirely focused on accuracy and compatibility. Because of this, Mednafen is known to outperform official emulators in accuracy tests. However, this emulator only has a command line interface - making normal navigation quite laborious, challenging, and inconvenient for users with no experience with similar UI.

Although Mednafen is an excellent multi-console emulator, we can't recommend it for casual players. If you're only looking for a good software to play your favorite GBA games, we recommend using other standalone GBA emulators due to Mednafen's lack of GUI which makes it far from being user-friendly. Fortunately, there are a couple of open-source graphical front-ends for Mednafen. These are Mednaffe, MedLaunch, MedGui Reborn, and MedSat. Mednafen uses VisualBoyAdvance core for Gameboy Advance emulation.
