PuNES is an open-source project under the GPLv2 license and is currently a work-in-progress emulator that is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems and is also available in separate Linux packages. The project is also readily available for compilation for FreeBSD and OpenBSD. For advanced users, puNES also features a debug mode for the Windows version and support for audio and video recording among many others.

Competing against other popular FAMICOM emulators such as Messen and Nestopia, PuNES is a promising emulator with very active development. It comes complete with the basic emulator functions and configurations and does not fall behind the other emulators in terms of performance and functionality.
